I was collecting audio search results for “wind” at findsounds.com when the 7th result lead me to a wav file at the url www.thecyberwoods.com/wind.wav. I liked the title cyberwoods.com and removed wind.wav from the url to reveal the index. The site’s owner has kept a detailed cyber record of the woods on his property, including accounts of all trash found and all gun shots heard over the course of many years.

I like that the last entry is from the city after they have moved to get away from the trashy rednecks, I mean, solid citizens of America.

This find is a true gem of classic selfmade web. Blogs simply do not exist long enough to cover such an amount of time. And they all the time have/had “database problems” (dmnit MySQL) and lose entries. Plain files that is the way to go on for ever.

Yeah this site is almost like an object it is so simple and so literal. You can grasp the entire site and its few directories in one thought. But I bet eventually MySQL will seem simple and literal compared to the database solutions that will emerge after web 2.0.
